Alene Lee, a Beat Generation writer best known as Jack Kerouac’s girlfriend (and the inspiration for “Mardou Fox” in The Subterraneans), with William S. Burroughs at Allen Ginsberg’s apartment around 1953. Read her story “Sisters” here.

Bill arrived from South America in August and we both stayed together in my apartment 5 till December, he left for Tangier, I hitched to Palm Beach, Xmas with his parents, then went on via Mexico to Bay Area San Francisco. 206 East 7th Street, Apt 26, Fall 1953.
